Hello all!
I have been meaning to post this tutorial for a while, but alas; sleep has gotten the best of me.
A month ago my brother-in-law married my friend Margaret. They even more recently moved into a new, beautiful house. As a housewarming gift I made her a wreath. Here is a short how-to:
1. What you will need:
Not pictured: the letter before I painted it. Sorry, I jumped the gun and painted it before I remembered my camera. Also not pictured: jute. I used it as decoration and to hang the wreath.

A month ago my brother-in-law married my friend Margaret. They even more recently moved into a new, beautiful house. As a housewarming gift I made her a wreath. Here is a short how-to:
1. What you will need:
Wreath form, yarn, glue of some kind (I had hot glue, so I used it.) |
Paint. Of any kind. |
A wooden letter, or whatever decoration you'd like (flower, ribbon, etc.) |
2. Take the yarn and glue about an inch or so of it to the back of the wreath form. After it dries, start wrapping the yarn around the form.
After you've wound the yarn around it about three or four times, pull it tight and push it as close together as possible.
3. Do this until you've covered the entire form. Make sure to keep the yarn as tight and close together as you can.
This can take a while, and your arm may hurt. Or maybe I am just a baby? Either way, great time to watch a movie. |
4. After you have made it all the way around, cut the yarn from the bundle. Glue another inch-long section to the back, on top of or beside the first spot. Congratulations. The boring part is over!
5. Now you can glue on your decoration wherever you want! I glued on a letter "F" for Franks, and I wrapped some jute around the whole wreath.
Voila! The finished product! |
There you have it! Margaret's favorite colors are cream, grey, mustard, coral, and other soft colors. So I tried to make this as light and subtle as I could.
I made one for myself several months ago with a few different colors:
It is looking a little shabby after so long outside. |
Well, there it is. Any questions, let me know!
